These are build pics from Jim's Garage
Jim and Mitzi lived in a home in San Angelo with a two car garage...and it was a full shop for Jim. Much of the reason they moved to San Angelo was for the weather and near 365 days of flying. Their home was 5 minutes or so from the San Angelo airport where they kept a hanger for their Meyers 200, N749C. After Jim was far enough along to be ready to assemble large parts into an actual airplane, he moved everything over to a second hanger. As Jim got older, and busier on this project, he just didn't have time to fly Charlie any more....and he let it go, selling it to me--and keeping it in the family as they say. When I was down there, I saw his "Lightening" for the first time...and told him, "I would love to buy that one from you some day too." Little did I know...
When you look at the sections and parts below that are slowly taking shape...remember that he also designed, engineered, ran stress test calculations and generally did a whole crap ton of math to get this right. A two thirds scale doesn't just mean you multiple all the dimensions by .666667, it's way more complicated than that. Then he went on to somehow fabricate the parts he needed to make all of this stuff. Then the pictures below show the assembly. Amazing...
